Synopsis: In this b/w dance short Shouman Shaha dances several “Mudras” or meditative movements in classical Indian style. Shot on location in Kolkata India
Production equipment used: Canon 5d Mark II, canon 24-70mm 2.8 lens, Sigma 50mm 1.4 lens, Bogen tripod and ball head. Rhode Video Mic
Editing software: Final Cut Express 4
Editing hardware: Macbook 2.16 GHz
Editing Workflow: Mpeg Streamclip to apple intermediary codec, Import to final cut express. Export as HD .mov file
Favorite shot or clip in this film: Second to last cut as Shouman pulls left. There’s a hit in the music at the same time and it really works well
Tip for 5d MkII filmmakers: It’s a hard camera to work with. As a photographer I would never use a body that didn’t allow me to get exactly what I wanted or needed, so I imagine anyone who works with video would feel the same way. Having said that, the movies coming out of the 5d II are unreal, absolutely incredible. This is the beta version of the future
