The EOScars.com provides a central hub for the best Canon 5D MkII movies available on the web (and when it hits the street the new Canon EOS500D / Rebel T1i). The Canon 5D MkII is providing experienced film makers, as well as a whole tranch of new videographers with still photography backgrounds, a budget route to create high quality 1080p video with all the benefits of a low noise 35mm sensor.
Why did we launch TheEOScars.com?
One of our biggest issues since the Canon 5D MkII was launched last year has been trawling through all of the random video posts made with this camera in order to see the best movies. You know the kind of stuff, “my first low light shots”, “5D MkII color test”, “My cat licks its paws”, etc. are all prevalent on the main video sharing sites such as vimeo, smugmug, viddyou, google video and youtube and make it challenging to find the movies you actually want to watch. The other issue is that there is not a central repository for HD movie sharing and so you need to hunt round all of the sites to find and compare movies.
Which movies get posted?
This is very simple. The team at The EOScars.com reviews the latest movies posted on the web, and although we score them against several parameters including cinematography, editing, sound and concept, we are basically looking for movies where the filmmaker has put in the effort to make a complete movie with at least a minimal score in each of these parameters. We don’t need to like the movie for it to get posted, but when we do like it then we’ll categorise it as an EOScar favorite - of course this will be totally subjective and based on our personal tastes.
How do I get my movie posted?
Just email the link to your movie to screening (at) theeoscars.com and we will review it.
Should I rate the movies?
Absolutely. The EOScars.com team only sets the hurdle rate for movies to make it onto the site, we want our visitors to rate the movies so that we can share this information with everyone and produce a definitive view of the most highly rated Canon 5D MkII movies on the web. We hope in the future to establish a set of EOScar Awards for the highest rated Canon 5D mkII movies.
